Production Method

Monocalcium Phosphate is produced through the controlled reaction of phosphoric acid and calcium carbonate (limestone) or calcium hydroxide. The production process generally follows these steps:

  1. Raw Material Preparation – High-purity phosphoric acid and calcium carbonate are selected.

  2. Reaction – The reaction occurs under controlled conditions:<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="block"> CaCO₃ + 2 H₃PO₄ Ca(H₂PO₄)₂ + CO₂ \text{CaCO₃} + 2\text{H₃PO₄} → \text{Ca(H₂PO₄)₂} + \text{CO₂} </math>

  3. Filtration & Purification – Impurities are removed through filtration.

  4. Drying & Crystallization

    • For MCP Monohydrate, controlled drying ensures water retention.

    • For MCP Anhydrous, high-temperature drying removes water molecules.

  5. Milling & Packaging – The final product is ground into fine powder or granules and packaged for various applications.

Applications

1. Animal Feed Additive (Feed-Grade MCP)

  • Enhances bone and skeletal growth in livestock and poultry.

  • Improves egg production and quality in poultry farming.

  • Provides phosphorus and calcium supplementation for aquaculture species like fish and shrimp.

2. Food Additive (Food-Grade MCP)

  • Acts as a leavening agent in baking powders to help dough rise.

  • Used as a pH regulator and acidity control agent in processed foods.

  • Serves as a calcium supplement in dairy and beverages.

3. Fertilizer Industry

  • Supplies phosphorus to crops, enhancing root growth and crop yield.

  • Used in compound fertilizers to balance soil nutrients.

4. Industrial Uses

  • Used in ceramics and dental products to provide controlled mineral release.

  • Employed in water treatment as a corrosion inhibitor.
